For more than 50 years, Canvas and Tent has supplied world-class products to luxury travel, leisure, adventure and glamping markets across the globe.
It also supplies rapidly deployable, versatile and robust structures to global military and mining markets, and to humanitarian and disaster management organisations including the United Nations, UNICEF, UNPD and the WHO.
Committed to the highest manufacturing standards
All tents are manufactured at Canvas and Tent’s state-of-the-art 22,500 m² factory in Ladysmith in South Africa.The company also has a 6,000 m² steelworks factory which manufactures steel poles and frames and an in-house frame powder coating plant – all of which saves time without compromising on quality.
The purpose of these facilities is two-fold: the creation of job opportunities and up-skilling of locals; and the ability to mass produce our canvas products and steel poles to the same high standards.
Regular staff training
Our staff undergo regular training to ensure that they are well-equipped to handle industry-leading equipment and the techniques and methodologies employed in the manufacture and deployment of our tents.

The Canvas and Tent group takes environmental issues and climate change very seriously. We strive to limit damage to the ecology and environment of the project location as far as possible.
ISO 9001:2015
ISO 9001 aims to provide a practical and workable QMS for improving and monitoring all areas of our business. This certification is important to us because it is a catalyst for growth, profitability, and cost savings. The benefit of reducing waste, for instance is both environmentally friendly and allows our workforce to be more efficient.
ISO 14001:2015
The primary objective of the ISO 14000 series of standards is to promote effective environmental management systems in companies. The standards seek to provide cost-effective tools that make use of best practices for organising and applying information about environmental management.
The Eton System
Canvas and Tent was the first tent manufacturing company in Africa to implement the Eton System at its factory, which revolutionised and set new standards for the manufacturing process of canvas products.
The Eton System provides real time data collection and information, with many process and organisational benefits including:
